Safety tips from the city
Biloxi public safety leaders give these tips each Halloween:
- An adult should go along with young children.
- Carry a flashlight to see and be seen.
- Take off any mask that blocks your view before crossing a street, driveway or alley.
- Visit only homes in neighborhoods you know, and only homes with the porch light on.
- Stay on lit streets and use the sidewalk. Where there is none, walk at the far edge of the road, facing traffic.
- Do not cut across yards or use alleys, and never go into a stranger’s home or car.
- Cross only as a group, at crosswalks. Do not assume drivers can see you.
- Eat nothing until an adult has checked it at home, and throw away anything unwrapped or open.
- Report anything suspicious to police right away.
