Biloxi, D'Iberville, Gulfport and Ocean Springs side by side: state millage rates, 2025-26 school grades, Zillow home values and Census figures.

Biloxi’s three nearest neighbors that are cities are D’Iberville, about 3 miles north across the Back Bay, Gulfport, about 8 miles west, and Ocean Springs, about 9 miles east across Biloxi Bay. Biloxi, D’Iberville and Gulfport are in Harrison County; Ocean Springs is in Jackson County. Each has its own city government and police and fire departments, and each is served by a different school district. This page puts the official figures side by side, one topic at a time.

What this means for you

  • Property tax depends on three levies: city, county and school district. All three differ across these four cities.
  • Your school district depends on the address, not just the city. Part of Biloxi and part of Gulfport are in the Harrison County School District.
  • Every figure below is linked to the agency that published it, with the year named.

Property tax rates

The Mississippi Department of Revenue’s combined millage rate schedules list each city, county and school district levy. These are its 2024-2025 figures, the latest year in the file. One mill is $1 for every $1,000 of assessed value, and a home you own and live in is assessed at 10% of its true value, according to the Department of Revenue.

City City levy County levy School district levy Listed total
Biloxi 30.10 36.42 (Harrison) 44.25 (Biloxi School District) 110.77
D’Iberville 28.63 36.42 (Harrison) 48.55 (Harrison County Schools) 113.60
Gulfport 34.00 36.42 (Harrison) 61.54 (Gulfport School District) 131.96
Ocean Springs 28.92 62.03 (Jackson) 64.86 (Ocean Springs School District) 155.81

The listed total adds the three lines in the state’s file. A real bill can differ: homes in Biloxi outside the Biloxi school district, such as most of Woolmarket, pay the Harrison County Schools levy, and the county tax collector’s bill shows every levy on a parcel. For tax year 2026 the Biloxi City Council set a city levy of 31.10 mills; see our property tax guide.

Homestead exemption. Mississippi’s homestead exemption is a state program, applied for at the county tax assessor’s office between Jan. 1 and April 1. None of the four cities publishes a separate city exemption.

Schools

Each city is served mainly by a different district. Grades are from the state’s 2025-26 report card. The state says this year’s grades used the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results because of a writing field test.

How to check an address

  • Which city and taxing district a parcel is in: the Harrison County Tax Assessor, 228-435-8266 (Biloxi office), for Biloxi, D’Iberville and Gulfport; the Jackson County Tax Assessor for Ocean Springs.
  • School zones: the Biloxi district’s attendance zones map and the Harrison County district’s zone lookup.
