Enrollment and teachers
The most recent federal count, from the NCES directory, is 206 students in 2023-24, with 24 full-time-equivalent teachers, about 8.6 students per teacher. The state’s 2025-26 report card counts 15.9 full-time-equivalent teachers; it does not show a newer enrollment figure.
Pre-K
The district’s pre-K program page says the program runs through its Early Learning Collaborative and takes an intent-to-register form, and links a brochure (PDF). Pre-K is a full-day program, and the district does not provide bus service for pre-K students, according to its registration information summarized in our schools guide.
State report card
Nichols earned a B for 2025-26, with 446 of 700 possible points, in the Mississippi Department of Education’s results file, released Oct. 15, 2026. A school needed 402 points for a B and 457 for an A this year, according to the state’s guide to the system (PDF). The school also earned a B on the 2024-25 report card.
State tests start in third grade, so the scores the state lists for Nichols are not from tests taken in the building. The figures on its 2025-26 report card:
| Measure | Nichols, 2025-26 |
|---|---|
| English proficiency | 54.0% |
| Math proficiency | 56.7% |
| English growth, all students | 71.5% |
| Math growth, all students | 73.4% |
| Chronically absent students | 15.7% |
Mississippi grades every school and district from A to F. Because the writing part of the English test was field tested in 2026, the state used the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results, and it says 2025-26 grades set a new baseline that “cannot be compared” to earlier years.
Attendance zone
The district’s attendance zones map (PDF), linked from its zones page and last revised July 18, 2011, shows four elementary zones and no separate Nichols zone. To find out whether a child’s kindergarten is at Nichols or at the zoned elementary school, call Student Services at 228-374-1810, ext. 1125.
Every Biloxi district student later attends Biloxi Upper Elementary for fifth and sixth grade, Biloxi Junior High and Biloxi High.
