Enrollment and teachers

The most recent federal count, from the NCES directory, is 778 students in 2023-24, with 62 full-time-equivalent teachers, about 12.5 students per teacher. The state’s 2025-26 report card counts 61.5 full-time-equivalent teachers; it does not show a newer enrollment figure.

State report card

Biloxi Upper Elementary earned a B for 2025-26, with 454 of 700 possible points, in the Mississippi Department of Education’s results file, released Oct. 15, 2026. That is three points short of an A: a school needed 402 points for a B and 457 for an A this year, according to the state’s guide to the system (PDF). The school also earned a B on the 2024-25 report card.

From the school’s 2025-26 report card:

Measure Biloxi Upper Elementary, 2025-26
English proficiency 58.3%
Math proficiency 60.2%
Science proficiency (fifth grade) 79.9%
English growth, all students 72.1%
Math growth, all students 67.9%
Chronically absent students 21.0%

Mississippi grades every school and district from A to F. The state’s guide (PDF) says the grade for a school without a 12th grade counts proficiency and growth on state tests in English and math, with extra weight on the lowest-performing 25% of students, science and English learners’ progress. Because the writing part of the English test was field tested in 2026, the state used the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results, and it says 2025-26 grades set a new baseline that “cannot be compared” to earlier years.
