Who to call

Which grades: the school’s 2026-27 supply list (PDF) covers first through fourth grade, and the district’s 2026-27 calendar gave Gorenflo’s first graders their own first day, July 28. The NCES directory also lists grades 1 to 4. The district’s schools page still labels Gorenflo “2-4.”

Principal

Principal Jonathan Beasley, according to the school’s website. The same page lists Melanie Everett as assistant principal.

Enrollment and teachers

The most recent federal count, from the NCES directory, is 331 students in 2023-24, with 27 full-time-equivalent teachers, about 12.3 students per teacher. The state’s 2025-26 report card counts 26.9 full-time-equivalent teachers; it does not show a newer enrollment figure.

State report card

Gorenflo earned a B for 2025-26, with 406 of 700 possible points, in the Mississippi Department of Education’s results file, released Oct. 15, 2026. A school needed 402 points for a B and 457 for an A this year, according to the state’s guide to the system (PDF). The school also earned a B on the 2024-25 report card.

From the school’s 2025-26 report card:

Measure Gorenflo, 2025-26
English proficiency 45.7%
Math proficiency 49.0%
English growth, all students 71.3%
Math growth, all students 64.1%
English growth, lowest-performing 25% 58.3%
Chronically absent students 15.6%

Mississippi grades every school and district from A to F. State tests start in third grade, so the proficiency figures come from Gorenflo’s third and fourth graders. The state’s guide (PDF) says the grade counts proficiency and growth in English and math, with extra weight on the lowest-performing 25% of students, and English learners’ progress. Because the writing part of the English test was field tested in 2026, the state used the higher of the 2025-26 or 2024-25 English results, and it says 2025-26 grades set a new baseline that “cannot be compared” to earlier years.

Attendance zone

On the district’s attendance zones map (PDF), linked from its zones page and last revised July 18, 2011, the Gorenflo zone covers the east end of the peninsula: from about White Avenue near the beach and the east side of Keesler Air Force Base to the eastern tip, including downtown, Point Cadet and the neighborhoods along Back Bay east of Keesler. The Back Bay zone is to the west. Our downtown Biloxi guide and Point Cadet guide cover the area.

After fourth grade, Gorenflo students go to Biloxi Upper Elementary, then Biloxi Junior High and Biloxi High. The map is old and boundary streets matter, so confirm an address with Student Services at 228-374-1810, ext. 1125.

Calendar and bell times
